On February 27, Madam Shen Ting, Head of the Women’s Group of the Chinese Embassy in Iceland and wife of Ambassador He Rulong, hosted a Chinese tea culture event to celebrate the Spring Festival at Unnur’s China Museum. Female representative and spouses from the missions of the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Poland, and the Faroe Islands attended.

In her remarks, Madam Shen extended New Year greetings to all the guests and introduced the tradition of gathering over fine tea to welcome the Chinese New Year and strengthen mutual understanding. The guests then toured the museum’s collection of porcelain and woodcarvings, gaining insight into the artistry and heritage of traditional Chinese craftsmanship. A tea master from the Northern Lights Confucius Institute of the University of Iceland demonstrated the art of tea-making. Guests tasted green, black, and dark teas and tried some Chinese snacks. A young women diplomat from the Embassy performed Tai Chi, highlighting the philosophy of harmony between humanity and nature.

The event was immersed in a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Participants found the gathering, with the Chinese tea as a bridge, offered a meaningful opportunity to deepen their understanding of the richness and spirit of the Chinese culture.
