On January 19, Ambassador He Rulong called on the Icelandic Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Jóhann Páll Jóhannsson. Counsellor Yang Jing attended the meeting.

Ambassador He briefed the Minister on China’s current economic development, noting that China–Iceland green cooperation is a model of cooperation on sustainable development under the United Nations framework. He mentioned that, as the year 2026 marks the first year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Iceland, China is ready to work together with Iceland to act on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further deepen cooperation in areas such as green transition, scientific and technological development, and people-to-people exchanges, with a view to enhancing the well-being of the two peoples.
Minister Jóhannsson expressed his willingness to actively support exchanges and mutual emulation between Iceland and China in fields including clean energy, environmental protection, and climate change, so as to elevate China–Iceland green cooperation to a new high.
