    As a faraway land of poetry and unique features, Iceland boasts dazzling aurora, endless glaciers and melodious Saga, while China has a vast territory, large population, longstanding history and splendid culture. Although our two countries are geographically far apart from each other and have so many differences, we nevertheless have a lot in common. As President Xi Jinping pointed out, Chinese and Icelandic peoples share a pioneering spirit of perseverance.

    In the past 50 years of our diplomatic ties, China-Iceland relations have enjoyed sound and steady development as the practical cooperation in various areas continued to be advanced. The understanding and friendship between the two peoples have been constantly deepened. As a famous Chinese line goes, "Friendship, which derives from close contact between the peoples, holds the key to sound state-to-state relations." The Embassy of China in Iceland is willing to build a bridge of friendship and understanding between our two peoples and promote the all-round development of bilateral relations.
