On September 5, Chinese Ambassador Jin Zhijian took interview with the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RUV)，Stöð 2 Television、Morgunblaðið and Útvarp Saga respectively to remark on US Vice President Mike Pence's comments about China during his visit to Iceland on September 4.
Ambassador Jin strongly refuted the unwarranted attacks and accusations of Vice President Pence against China's participation in the Arctic affairs, Huawei 5G and the Belt and Road Initiative. He stated China's stance and propositions in this regard, and hoped that the Iceland government and relevant parties could see clearly the ill intention of the United States to interfere in the sound relations between China and Iceland, act cautiously when it came to these important matters, and continue to work together with China for the future development of bilateral relations.
The interviews were broadcasted on TV and Radio on above mentioned media on September 5. Icelandic newspaper Morgunblaðið published the interview with Ambassador on September 6.
