On May 14, Ambassador Jin Zhijian met with Mr. Gudni Bergsson, President of the Icelandic Football Association (KSI), to discuss the future cooperation.
Ambassador Jin said that the past twenty years had seen fast development in football in Iceland. With outstanding performance of Man's National Football Team of Iceland on international stage such as World Cup, football has become the most well-known label of Iceland in China, and China was willing to learn from the successful experience of Iceland. Sports exchanges were the important parts of China-Iceland relations. Minister of Education, Science and Culture of Iceland has finished her visit to China recently and had a fruitful meeting with the head of General Administration of Sports of China. The two countries have already enjoyed sound foundation of football exchanges, and it was fully believed there would be broad space for future cooperation. The Chinese Embassy was willing to offer assistance to bridge KSI with its counterpart as well as football clubs and schools in China for more exchanges and cooperation.
Mr. Bergsson welcomed Ambassador Jin to visit KSI. He introduced the main practice and experience in youth training, facilities and coach training in Iceland football system. He appreciated the great effort of Chinese Embassy to promote football exchanges between the two countries, and was willing to keep in close contact and expand cooperation with China.
