On May 26th, Chinese Ambassador Jin Zhijian attended and addressed the Tourism Seminar hosted by the Iceland China Trade Council (ÍKV).

In his speech, Ambassador Jin introduced the latest situation of China's pandemic control and economic and social development. He emphasized that under the strong leadership of the Chinese government and with the joint efforts of all the Chinese people, positive progress has been made in the prevention and control of COVID-19 in China, and the pandemic is under good control, China's economy has witnessed inspiring growth, and people's lives are gradually returning to normal. However, as the coronavirus is still spreading in many countries around the world, China still faces enormous pressure from a possible rebound both at home and from abroad.Although the pandemic has caused great impacts on the economic and trade cooperation and personnel exchanges between China and Iceland, the prospect to restore and deepen tourism cooperation between the two sides in the post-pandemic era is bright. With the continuous development of China's economy and the improvement of people's living standards, more Chinese visitors will come to Iceland. The government organizations and relevant departments of the two countries should make necessary preparations for this related to policies, facilities and services. Ambassador Jin also put forward specific suggestions on the development of tourism cooperation between the two countries.

The Seminar was hosted by Jónína Bjartmarz, Chairperson of ÍKV. Representatives from Icelandic Tourist Board, Íslandsstofa, ISAVIA delivered speeches respectively. About 50 people attended the event.
