Ambassador Jin Zhijian Visits Newly Appointed Governor of Central Bank of Iceland Ásgeir Jónsson

On November 18, Ambassador Jin Zhijian visited Mr. Ásgeir Jónsson, the newly appointed Governor of Central Bank of Iceland(CBI), and had a friendly conversation with him.

Ambassador Jin congratulated Mr. Jónsson on his appointment, and spoke highly of the friendly cooperation between the People’s Bank Of China (PBC) and CBI. Ambassador Jin also briefed him of the latest developments of China’s economy and Sino-Icelandic relations. He stressed that the Currency Swap Agreement between China and Iceland signed in 2010 is an important cooperation result between the two banks, and it represents the close relationships between China and Iceland. It is hoped that the Agreement would be timely extended once again so as to play its due role.

Mr. Jónsson was grateful to Ambassador Jin’s visit. He promised to continue the cooperation with China and would consider positively the renewal of the Agreement in order to further enhance the development of Sino-Icelandic relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on some international issues of common interest.
