On October 28, Chinese Ambassador Jin Zhijian Attended Icelandic Environmental Tourism Ambassador Awarding Ceremony hosted by Promote Iceland and Mango TV of China for variety show The Protectors. Ms. Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Innovation of Iceland and more than 100 guests from all walks of life of China and Iceland attended the ceremony.
During their show in Iceland, Huang Zitao, Zhou Dongyu, Wang Yanlin and Yin Zheng, four Chinese actors and actress, completed the challenge of reducing carbon emission in their trip, and gain the titles of Icelandic Environmental Tourism Ambassador from Promote Iceland.
In his remarks, Ambassador Jin expressed appreciation to Mango TV and Promote Iceland for setting up this meaningful initiative, and congratulated the four actors and actress on their success in this carbon neutral trip in Iceland. He wished that they would continue to play a positive role in promoting people-to-people exchanges and environmental protection between China and Iceland. Ambassador Jin pointed out that the Chinese government always attached great importance to environmental protection, actively engaged in international cooperation to address climate change and honored its commitment in Paris Agreement. At the same time, the Icelandic Government also made environmental protection and climate change its top priorities. The two countries enjoyed common interests and broad prospects for cooperation in these areas. He expected this show could bring more Chinese tourists to Iceland once broadcasted, and further promoted the sound development of China Iceland people to people exchanges.
Minister Gylfadóttir delivered a speech and congratulated the four Chinese actors and actress on gaining the titles of Icelandic Environmental Tourism Ambassador. She spoke highly of the spirit of the show to highlight the respect to the nature, the joint efforts to protect environment and being a responsible traveler. She emphasized that Iceland attached great importance to developing environmental friendly tourism in a sustainable way, and believed tourism could play an importance role in promoting people to people exchanges and environmental protection. Iceland welcomes more Chinese tourists to come, and is willing to play host with more diversified tourism products and better service for its guests.
The Protectors has finished its shooting in Iceland and expected to meet the audience on Mango TV at the end of 2019.
