Chinese Ambassador to Iceland Jin Zhijian visited HB Grandi of Iceland

On March 22nd, Chinese Ambassador to Iceland Jin Zhijian visited HB Grandi of Iceland and met with Chairman of the Board Magnus Gustafsson, CEO Gudmundur Kristjansson and others. The two sides had in-depth discussions on further promoting trade cooperation in fishery industry between China and Iceland.

After being briefed of the company's operation and trade relations with China, Jin praised its practices such as realizing high quality growth by technical means, focusing on environmental protection and sustainable development, and endeavoring to develop international market. Jin also pointed that the fishery industry plays an important role both in Icelandic economy and bilateral trade between China and Iceland. The comprehensive implementation of Sino-Iclandic FTA and continuous growth of China's economy will bring about new opportunities for the cooperation in fishery industry between the two countries. The Embassy is ready to provide more convenient services and support to the relative parties.

Both Gustafsson and Kristjansson welcomed Jin's visit, and thanked him for his appraisal, attention and assistance to the company's development. They expressed their confidence in the business prospect in China due to China's huge market potentials.

HB Grandi, with a long history of more than 100 years, is one of Iceland's largest seafood companies. It engages in fishing, processing and marketing of fish products, which are mostly sold to Europe, Asia, North America and other regions. The company employs approximately 800 people, having oversea branch offices in Qingdao, China and elsewhere.
