Chinese Embassy in Iceland Hosts “Happy Chinese New Year 2025” Reception

On January 24, the Chinese Embassy in Iceland hosted a“Happy Chinese New Year 2025” Reception. H.E. Ambassador He Rulong and his wife as well as H.E. Inga Sæland, Chairman of Iceland's People's Party and Minister for Social Affairs and Housing, Chairman of Landsbjörg and about 700 other friends from all walks of life in Iceland, including diplomatic communities in Iceland, overseas Chinese and students attended the event and celebrated the Chinese New Year of Snake.


Ambassador He Rulong extended his New Year wishes for the Year of the Snake, emphasizing that facing challenges, the international community must work as passengers in the same boat and as good neighbors on the same planet. China is committed to promoting steady and long-term development of China-Iceland relations and is willing to join hands with Iceland in building a community of shared future for mankind.

Minister Inga Sæland spoke highly of the cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in literature and arts. She was hopeful that the cultural and student exchanges would further strengthen cultural ties between the two countries, enhance mutual understanding and trust, which are essential to building a harmonious global society.


The lively performance by Shanxi Art Troup drew rounds of applause. Featuring traditional Shanxi cultural elements and classic Chinese heritage, the program included drumming, folk songs, dances, magic tricks and acrobatics. All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the non-profit Landsbjörg or Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue.
