On September 27, Chinese Ambassador to Iceland H.E. He Rulong and his wife held a reception at the embassy to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. In his remarks, Ambassador He reviewed China’s remarkable achievements in the past 75 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. He briefed the attendants over the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, stressing openness as a distinctive feature of Chinese-style modernization. He stressed that China's development is an opportunity for the rest of the world. It will also create favorable conditions for the further development of China-Iceland relations.
Permanent Secretary Martin Eyjólfsson congratulated on China's National Day. He expressed the hope that Iceland and China will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and make joint efforts in promoting world peace and prosperity.
The Söngskólinn Domus Vox sang the national anthems of China and Iceland, followed by a face-changing performance by an Icelandic boy. The reception was immersed in a lively and friendly atmosphere. After the reception, guests proceeded to Bíó Paradís for the closing ceremony of the Chinese Film Festival, co-hosted by the Embassy and China Movie Channel, where they watched The Wandering Earth II.
