On October 25th and 26th, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Iceland held an Open Day event for students and teachers from Landakotsskóli (The Landakot School), the University of Iceland, and the Northern Light Confucius Institute.

    Ambassador He Rulong said that China boasts a long-standing history and splendid culture. Although China and Iceland are geographically far apart from each other and have huge difference in population and land area, culture has played an important part in building a bridge of friendship between our two peoples. Cultural exchanges are indispensable for China-Iceland relations. Ambassador He believes this cultural event will be conducive for students to better appreciating the charm of the Chinese culture.

    A China-themed introductory video was played and traditional handcrafts such as Cloisonné and blue and white ceramics were introduced at the event. Students actively participated in traditional Chinese cultural activities such as Hanfu (Chinese costumes) dressing, calligraphy writing, table tennis playing, and dumpling making. Immersed in a warm atmosphere full of Chinese flavor, students said that the event was lively and colorful, offering them a good opportunity to indulge themselves in the Chinese culture and enhance their understanding and appreciation of the Chinese culture.
