On April 15, the Icelandic division of the 2023 "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Language Proficiency Competition for College and Secondary School Students and the Chinese Language Show for Primary School Students were successfully held by the Chinese Embassy in Iceland and the Northern Lights Confucius Institute of the University of Iceland. Ambassador He Rulong attended the event and delivered a speech. Counselor Yang Wen participated in the evaluation process. Also present were nearly one hundred Chinese Language learners and enthusiasts in Iceland.

Ambassador He pointed out in his speech that in recent years, with the constant development of the China-Iceland relations, the people-to-people exchanges between the two countries have become ever closer. The performance of the contestants had fully demonstrated their enthusiasm for Chinese language and culture. It is hoped that more and more Icelandic friends will know about China and appreciate China through Chinese language learning, and will act as friendship ambassadors of the people-to-people exchanges between China and Iceland. 

The contestants demonstrated their Chinese language proficiency and understanding of the Chinese culture through Chinese speeches and talent demonstration such as singing, paper-cutting and Chinese character writing. Their wonderful performances won rounds of applause from the audience. Journalists from the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RÚV) reported on the event.
