The 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was successfully held from November 5th to 10th. Participating in the Business Exhibitions five years in a row, Iceland has for the first time attended the Country Exhibition this year, showcasing Iceland's investment environment, healthy life, tourism, food and other themes online.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Mr. Martin Eyjólfsson was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the 5th CIIE through video link on behalf of the Icelandic government. Iceland's Ambassador to China Mr. Þórir Ibsen came to the actual site of the CIIE, addressed relevant forums and witnessed the signing of contracts between Icelandic and Chinese companies.

Over the past five years, the CIIE has attracted a steady stream of "Icelandic fine products" entering the Chinese market to the appreciation of the Chinese customers, such as sea cucumbers, herring oil, whisky, skin care products, prosthetics, orthotics and others. As more and more Chinese consumers get to know Iceland through the CIIE online Country Exhibition, and more and more Icelandic businesses entering the Chinese market through the CIIE, the bilateral economic cooperation and trade between China and Iceland will become even more robust, which will bring more benefits to the two countries and two peoples.
