Ambassador He Rulong Visits Fisheries Iceland

On June 21, Ambassador He Rulong met with Ms. Heidrun Lind Marteinsdottir, CEO of Fisheries Iceland(SFS).

Ambassador He said that fishery, a traditional pillar industry in Iceland, has always played an important role in Iceland's socioeconomic development and bears on the feelings of the Icelanders. China has a vast market and a large number of consumers. In recent years, China-Iceland fishery cooperation has maintained sound momentum. The Chinese Embassy is willing to increase exchanges with SFS to promote more high-quality Icelandic fishery products to enter the Chinese market.

Ms.Marteinsdottir warmly welcomed Ambassador He and briefly introduced SFS as well as the development of the Icelandic fishery industry. She said that SFS is willing to maintain close contact with the Chinese Embassy with a view to jointly pushing forward the cooperation between China and Iceland in the field of fishery.

SFS was established in 2014 when the Federation of Icelandic Fishing Vessel Owners and the Federation of Icelandic Fish Processing Plants merged, and currently has about 140 member companies.
