On May 27, Ambassador He Rulong visited the headquarter of Fréttablaðið and met with Editor-in-Chief Sigmundur Ernir Rúnarsson and CEO at Torg publishing house Jón Þórisson. Ambassador He also visited Fréttablaðið editorial department.

Ambassador He said that, as the most widely read newspaper in Iceland，Fréttablaðið has all along maintained good cooperation with the Chinese Embassy. The Embassy hopes to see Fréttablaðið continuing its report on China in an active and objective manner, with a view to advancing the two peoples' mutual understanding and creating favorable atmosphere for the development of China-Iceland relations.

Editor-in-Chief Rúnarsson and CEO Þórisson warmly welcomed Ambassador He and said that Icelanders are paying more and more attention to China as a result of China's elevated international standing and influence. Fréttablaðið is willing to strengthen communication and exchanges with the Embassy so as to grow the friendship between the peoples.
