At the invitation of the University of Iceland (UI), Ambassador He Rulong visited UI on April 19 and discussed with Rector Jón Atli Benediktsson on ways to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of education and scientific research between China and Iceland.

Ambassador He Rulong spoke positively of the progress in China-Iceland educational exchanges and cooperation in recent years. Thanks to our joint efforts, the Ministries of Education from both China and Iceland inked an agreement on mutual recognition of qualifications and academic degrees in higher education, elevating the educational exchanges and cooperation between our two countries to a new high. As a university with a long-standing history and numerous talents, UI has been committed to exchanges and cooperation with Chinese counterparts for which the Chinese side highly appreciates. The Embassy of China in Iceland is willing to continue its support to UI in its cooperation with Chinese institutions of higher learning.

Rector Jón Atli Benediktsson warmly welcomed Ambassador He to UI and made an introduction about the university and its cooperation with Chinese institutions of higher learning. The rector expressed his willingness to further expand academic exchanges, increase two-way visits among teachers and students, and work even harder to promote China-Iceland friendship.

Ambassador He also had a guided tour of the campus.

Founded in 1911, the University of Iceland is the most prestigious university in Iceland. With the most extensive  academic disciplines, this comprehensive university represents the highest level of education in Iceland.
