On April 7, 2022, Ambassador He Rulong visited the Icelandic-Chinese Trade Council(ÍKV), and met with Chairman Ms.Jónína Bjartmarz and all board members.

Ambassador He spoke highly of the efforts and contribution made by ÍKV in promoting the development of Iceland-China economic cooperation and trade since its founding 27 years ago. Ambassador He said that, China has remained as Iceland’s largest trading partner in Asia for 15 consecutive years since 2006. Although China and Iceland are geographically far apart from each other and have many differences in national conditions and culture, the growth of bilateral trade has not only brought economic benefits to our two countries, but also promoted mutual understanding and closer relations between our two peoples. Going forward, China-Iceland economic cooperation and trade is faced with new development opportunities. Our two countries have huge potential in cooperation in the fields of clean energy, tourism, aviation, finance, and etc. China-Iceland pragmatic cooperation has a rosy prospect.

On behalf of ÍKV, Ms. Bjartmarz warmly welcomed Ambassador He, saying that ÍKV is willing to work with the  Chinese Embassy in Iceland with regard to continuing  China-Iceland economic and trade relations in the spirit of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.

During the discussion, Ambassador He responded to the questions raised by the board members respectively.

Founded in 1995, ÍKV is a business organization spontaneously set up by Icelandic companies. Currently, ÍKV has more than 50 Icelandic company members.
