Ambassador He Rulong Meets with Chairman Þorkell Ólafur Árnason of the Icelandic Chinese Cultural Society

On April 7, Ambassador He Rulong met Chairman Þorkell Ólafur Árnason of the Icelandic Chinese Cultural Society (KÍM) and its members. The two sides shared their views on China's progress and China-Iceland relations.

Ambassador He spoke highly of the efforts made by KÍM in promoting the development of China-Iceland relations and people-to-people exchanges. Ambassador He said, since the founding of KÍM 70 years ago, through a series of cultural exchange activities, the two peoples have better understood each other, and their friendship has been continuously deepened. Fruitful outcome in people-to-people exchanges has also been continuously achieved. The Embassy hopes KÍM could remain committed to the consolidation and deepening of the friendship between China and Iceland, and the Embassy will also continue to provide strong assistance to KÍM.

On behalf of KÍM, Þorkell Ólafur Árnason warmly welcomed Ambassador He to his new post, and expressed that KÍM is willing to further boost the people-to-people exchanges between China and Iceland, better promote Chinese culture to the local people, enhance the Icelandic people's understanding of China, and consolidate the foundation of bilateral friendship.

Established in 1953, KÍM is among the first foreign groups to communicate with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).
